Hi! I’m Sam, a biologist, photographer and illustrator

Biology
I have an Msci in Biology, with my both research projects in my degree focusing on Cepaea snails. The first looking and allopatric and sympatric populations and the impact of shell polymorphisms, and my Msci project investigating the origins of North American populations of C. hortensis.
My research interests lie in evolutionary ecology and phylogenetics.
Art and Photography
My photography and painting feed into each other, with a focus on macro photography and biological illustration. My current work has mainly consisted of depicting snails due to their availability throughout my degree, but I will be expanding this further into the world of insects as my macro work improves.
My illustrative work predominantly uses professional grade watercolour and pencil to provide the best longeivity possible for the medium. All paintings are created using my own images, or those provided by a client for the purpose of a commission.
